Delhi car horror victim’s friend was arrested in 2020 drugs case: Report

Eyewitness Nidhi, who was sitting behind 20-year-old Anjali Singh, whose scooty was hit by a car while dragging her for several kilometers in the national capital on New Year’s Day, was earlier arrested in a drug smuggling case, Delhi the police said.

According to an FIR registered in December 2020, Nidhi was arrested in Agra in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, (1985) case. Police sources said Nidhi is currently out on bail.

Nidhi was stopped and arrested at Agra railway station on December 6, 2020 for allegedly bringing ganja (drugs) by train from Telangana. Later he was arrested. Along with Nidhi, two boys named Sameer and Ravi were also arrested.

Meanwhile, in the Kanjhawala case, the Delhi Police on Friday said that Nidhi has been asked to join the probe and clarified that she has not been arrested.

A Delhi Police official said, “There are reports that Nidhi (eyewitness) has been arrested by the police. It is clarified that she has been called by the police to join the investigation.”

Nidhi, who was present with Anjali at the time of the incident on Tuesday, told the media that Anjali was drunk on the day of the incident.

“She was in an inebriated condition but insisted on driving the two-wheeler. After the car hit her, she came under the car and got dragged along with it. I got scared and ran back home, didn’t tell anyone ” anyone. It is the fault of the girl who was driving under the influence of alcohol. I insisted that he should not drive. I told him ‘I am conscious, let me drive’. He didn’t trust me and instead trusted himself. The fund claimed on Tuesday.

Anjali’s body was found on January 1 in Kanjhawala area of ​​the national capital. Near Sultanpuri, a car dragged him for 12 km and hit his scooter.

The seven accused in the case are now in the custody of the Delhi Police.

Delhi Police’s Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said on Friday, “Ashutosh, the sixth accused in the Sultanpuri case, who had given false information to the police, has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.”

The other five accused in the case – Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishna, Mithun and Manoj Mittal – were arrested earlier. All five were driving a car borrowed from Ashutosh.

All the accused were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for medical examination on Thursday night. Police said they were taken away during the night as a security precaution.

On Thursday, Hooda said that the other two accused are Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna. Both of them are friends of the five people taken into custody and they tried to save the accused.

According to the Special CP, while trying to help the accused, the duo also tried to tamper with the evidence.

A total of 18 teams of Delhi Police are probing the case.

During interrogation, it was found that Amit was driving the car and not Deepak.
