New Delhi:

A doctor, wanted in several cases of cheating, has been arrested from West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, police said on Wednesday.

He said that the accused has been identified as Mohammad Sabir Khan (58), a resident of Deoli Road in Khanpur.

Police said seven cases were registered against him and he was hiding at Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar for the last four years.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Usha Rangnani said, “Khan was arrested after a house was raided in Mohan Garden.”

The accused told the police that he holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree and was running a clinic named Medinova Hospital in Khanpur, where he was practicing allopathic medicine.

On 30 November 2014, his clinic was raided by the Delhi Medical Council and a case was registered against him. He was arrested and sent to judicial custody. However, he did not appear in court to face trial, the police said.

After getting released from jail on bail, he started duping many more people. He said a case was registered against him at the Saket police station in 2015 on the pretext of leasing his house to a foreign national for allegedly cheating him to the tune of $8,000.

In another case registered against him at Neb Sarai police station, he was accused of forging documents of a shop in Khanpur, police said.
