“Several private agencies are also involved in construction work in the city. We held meetings with over 50 such companies including L&T, GMR Group, Raheja Developers, NDMMPL.
“These private construction sites have been asked to follow 14-point guidelines to prevent dust pollution within 15 days,” Rai said.
The minister warned that the government would take strict action against private agencies not adhering to the norms under the Winter Action Plan.
As per 14 point guidelines, construction sites should be covered from all sides using tin sheds. Sites with an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters will have to deploy anti-smog guns.
Vehicles carrying construction materials should also be covered. There should be no collection of roadside construction and demolition (C&D) waste. The guidelines state that no stone will be allowed in the open except for grinding.
Rai also called for installing wind barrier walls of suitable height around the perimeter of the construction site. Be sure to put tarpaulin or green net on the under construction area and the scaffolding around the building.
He said construction and demolition waste must be recycled on site or taken to an authorized recycling facility.
