Delhi government fixes fee for issuance of speed limit device certificate at Rs 500 – Times of India

New Delhi: In a move that will benefit lakhs of commercial vehicle owners in the national capital Delhi transport Department The fee for issuance of speed limit device certificate has been fixed at Rs 500. Commercial vehicles require a certificate to show that they are equipped with a functional speed limit device (also known as a speed governor) at the time of the fitness test. At present Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 are charged for issuance of speed limit device certificate.
In the order issued on Tuesday, transportation The department pointed out that various speed governor manufacturers, authorized dealers and vendors are charging an “excessive amount” for issuance of speed limit device certificates and added that they will not charge more than Rs 500 for issuance of these certificates.
Chandu Chaurasia, president of Capital Drivers Welfare Association, said about 4 lakh commercial passenger vehicles would benefit from this move.
“We raised the issue that we will have to pay anywhere between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 for these certificates. I thank the transport department and the transport minister. Kailash Gehlot for this decision,” he said.
Four wheelers are fitted with speed governors to control their top speed as per the traffic restrictions on different roads of the city.
