Delhi liquor controversy case: CBI begins questioning KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha

A team of officers, including women who arrived from Delhi, was seen entering the Banjara Hills residence of the leader at around 11 am.

As per the earlier communication with Ms. Kavita, the CBI served her a notice under the CrPC. PC Section 160 (Power of police officer to require attendance of witnesses) to interrogate him and record statement.

Reportedly, the process was planned in his office on the lower level of his residence, in the presence of his lawyer.

The high-profile development continued to create ripples in political circles ever since Ms. Kavita’s name cropped up in the remand report of an accused filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

But here the leaders and workers of the ruling party took utmost care and left no stone unturned to make them feel safe and sound. Ms. Kavita has also met her father and Chief Minister KCR on several occasions regarding development.

On Sunday, ahead of her questioning, the entire Banjara Hills area leading to her residence was decorated in pink flexis to express solidarity with her. The flexis with pictures of the father-daughter duo read: “Fighter’s daughter will never be afraid”, “We are with Kavithakka” amid banners.

An unusually large number of police personnel also made Sunday isolated for locals in and around the area, who were mostly confined to their homes, and as a result the place wore a deserted look. Heavy barricading was done at that place also and the cadres were strictly instructed not to be present anywhere near their residence to avoid any untoward situation.
