Delhi MCD election dates announced today

Amid full campaign by political parties, State Election Commission NCT Delhi may announce the date of MCD election in a press conference to be held today at 4 PM.

Notably, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) making all their efforts in the election campaigns, Delhi would be a battlefield for both of them to gain dominance in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party launched “Every Home Contact” Campaigning in the capital to reach as many people as possible ahead of the elections. Party’s state president Adesh Gupta will campaign on all the seats of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The goal of the party is to connect as many people as possible with its ideology.

Under this campaign, party members are distributing BJP flags among the people and also telling them about the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The party will soon launch the NaMo Cyber Yoddha campaign. The campaign party aims to connect more than 50,000 people in the capital in a month.

Apart from launching campaigns, the parties are improving their strategies and selecting candidates for the elections, reported PTI. Till date, the Delhi Congress has received around 1,000 applications seeking party tickets for the elections. Party unit chief Anil Kumar told PTI that the party is expected to refine the candidate selection process in its meetings on Saturday and Sunday.

Moving towards the BJP, its top leaders have rubbished claims of replacing all its existing councilors with new faces. A senior BJP leader told PTI that with several factors such as reduction in the number of wards, rotation and delimitation of seats reserved for women and scheduled caste candidates, there is a possibility that around 60-70 per cent of the incumbent councilors will stake their claim. will lose More than 30 percent of the existing councilors will not repeat this time.

He further informed that the amalgamation and delimitation of the three municipal corporations has reduced the ward number from 272 to 250. The rotation of wards has now changed the status of many reserved wards to normal. In contrast, many general wards are now reserved for women and Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
