Delhi schools reopening: Lunch breaks held in quarantine rooms

After a significant improvement in COVID-19 situation in the national capitalThe Delhi government said that schools will be opened in a phased manner from next month. The decision was taken in a meeting held with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday.

Delhi government issues SOPs for reopening of schools and colleges from September 1; Calls for setting up of quarantine centers in all schools and colleges for emergency use; Classes to operate at 50% capacity.

DDMA guidelines for reopening of schools in the national capital

  • Schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12 from September 1.
  • The schools should prepare the timetable as per the occupancy limit of the classes following the COVID norms.
  • All covid norms should be followed.
  • A maximum of 50 percent of the students can be called per class depending on the capacity.
  • The lunch break in Delhi schools will be staggered to avoid overcrowding.
  • Lunch break should be done in open space.
  • Physical classes for students of class 6 to class 8 will also start from September 8.
  • Students, teachers living in the Kovid Containment Zone will not be allowed to come to the school, college.
  • Schools, colleges will set up quarantine rooms for emergency use.
  • Regular guest visits should be discouraged.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that no student would be forced to come to schools and parental consent would be mandatory for children to return to schools and if they If not allowed, the student will not be compelled or considered absent.

Medical experts have welcomed the decision of the Delhi government on Friday school reopening, colleges and coaching institutes in the national capital but advised parents to tread carefully by teaching children the COVID protocol.
