Delhi schools to reopen from Monday, physical attendance voluntary

All schools can be reopened for students of all classes from Monday.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said after a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday that all schools in the national capital can reopen for students of all classes from Monday. He said that physical attendance would be voluntary and parents would not be compelled to send their children to school as the classes would be conducted in hybrid mode, in which individual and online classes would be conducted simultaneously.

Mr Sisodia said that not more than 50 per cent students will be called to appear in physical classes at a time. Schools have to ensure that 100% of their staff is vaccinated.

Till now only students of classes 9 to 12 were allowed to enter the schools.

DDMA recently held a meeting in Delhi to review the COVID-19 situation in Delhi, in which city ​​health secretary suggestedMaking vaccination mandatory for entry into malls and metro trains, among other measures.

Delhi added 41 new Covid cases yesterday, while the national capital did not report a single related death for the fourth consecutive day. The positivity rate in the city is currently 0.08 percent.
