Delhi: Some private schools remain closed due to non-availability of bus services

Some private schools in the national capital remained closed on Monday while the city government allowed schools to resume offline classes for classes 9-12. According to a principal of a private school in Delhi, they are working on modalities like parental consent and transport availability. In an interview with PTI news agency, a vice-principal of a top private school said, “We are yet to reopen as there are so many modalities. Board classes are close to their exams, so attendance is low. Also, it is difficult to provide transportation for the students, so we are still working on the details. We will have a plan in two days.”

Many schools The national capital reopened after a prolonged shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially, schools have been opened for class 9 to class 12. By next week, Delhi schools will also resume offline nursery classes for class 8 students from February 14.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to share some pictures of welcoming children in various schools. He tweeted in Hindi, “Glad to see the kids back in school. They too are disappointed. I pray that schools don’t need to be closed again.” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also visited some schools and interacted with the students. ,Delhi Schools are finally open now. There is no cap on 50% student strength and schools are free to decide the number of students based on their infrastructure so as to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.

Not only schools, higher educational institutions also reopened today. Delhi government-run Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have resumed offline classes from Monday, while Delhi University continues with online classes.

DDMA held a meeting on Friday to review the COVID-19 situation and schools as well as higher education institutions and coaching centers for classes 9-12 from February 7 amid easing of COVID cases in the city. decided to reopen.

Delhi on Sunday reported 1,410 fresh Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths, while the positivity rate fell to 2.45%. There has been a decline in the number of daily cases in Delhi after touching a record high of 28,867 on January 13.

The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6% on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic. It took just 10 days for the daily cases to come down below the 10,000-mark. Delhi had reported 9,197 Covid cases on 23 January, with a positivity rate of 13.32% and 34 deaths.
