Delhi to Bihar: States reopening schools tomorrow

As COVID-19 cases start to decline across the country, several states have decided to reopen schools. While West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra have reopened schools in the last one week, some states will open schools from tomorrow, February 7. Here is a list of states reopening schools:

Uttar Pradesh

The UP government has allowed reopening of schools and colleges from February 7 due to the reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12. The remaining classes are yet to reopen. At the same time online classes will continue. “The active cases in the state on January 17 were 1,01,600 and now it has gone up to 41,000 and may be zero within a week,” the CM had said in an administrative meeting.

Gujarat

Like the UP government, the Gujarat government has also given permission. Schools from class one to nine will reopen from tomorrow, According to a circular issued by the Education Department, government, private and aided schools can resume physical classes from Monday. Meanwhile, online learning will continue and students can choose as per their convenience. Schools in the state are closed since December 2021 due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

A state in Eastern India

Schools are opening in Bihar with 50 percent capacity for class 8 students and students from class 9 to 12 are allowed to attend schools at full capacity. Apart from schools, colleges and coaching institutes, will also reopen with 100% capacity. Schools have been closed since January 6 due to the increase in the cases of Kovid-19 in Bihar. Schools will remain closed for children below class 8 and online classes will continue for all students.

Delhi

The Delhi government has also decided to reopen the schools for classes 9 to 12 starting tomorrow. The decision came after a meeting with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Schools to reopen in a phased manner following strict COVID-19 precautions And only vaccinated staff and teachers will be allowed to attend offline classes. DDMA has also allowed offices in the capital to function with 100 per cent capacity. Meanwhile, nursery to class 8 will reopen from February 14.

“Based on the advice of experts, in view of the ever-decreasing positivity and number of cases, to open the institutions of higher education and coaching institutes under SOPs and strictly follow the CAB,” the DDMA said. It also said that vaccination of children in the age group of 15-18 should be increased.

Kerala

Kerala Schools and colleges are reopening from February 7, As per the guidelines issued by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office, offline classes in all educational institutions have been allowed to resume in a phased manner. Schools will reopen tomorrow for classes 10 to 12. For classes 1 to 9, schools will reopen from February 14.

Orissa

Schools in Odisha are reopening for students Class 8 and above from February 7 Students studying in Class 7 to Kindergarten will be allowed to attend physical classes from February 14. Those going to schools physically will have to strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines and norms. Colleges and technical institutes will also open from February 7.
