Speaking at the 99th convocation of the university, Murmu said the number of girls receiving awards at the ceremony was more than boys this year, which shows the picture of a developed India.

Delhi University represents India In all its richness and diversity, President Draupadi Murmu said on Saturday, there is a semblance of the institute in every field of excellence in the country and abroad.

A total of 170 students including 51 boys and 119 girls were awarded medals, prizes in the function.

Digital degrees were awarded to 1,57,290 undergraduate and postgraduate students, of whom 54.7 per cent were girls and 45.3 per cent were boys.

Murmu said, “The University of Delhi represents India in all its richness and diversity and it can also be said that every field of excellence in India and abroad has a share of Delhi University.” He also presented prizes to the top seven students in the university.

It is a matter of pride that three of the awardees were physically challenged. This is the result of their strength and hard work. I want to congratulate him specially.

“I know that 52 per cent are women who have taken admission in UG courses in Delhi University. I am also happy that the number of awardees in today’s program was more women than men. This change presents a picture of a developed India.

Degrees were also awarded to 47 students of DM/MCh in the medical field. 910 students were awarded PhD degree. This figure of PhD degree is the highest ever in the history of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said that it is one of the few universities which conducts convocation every year.

Convocation is the most important day for the students and the university. I congratulate all those who are graduating. The University had a humble beginning 100 years ago and we have seen the enduring journey of the University.
