People living in some areas of the national capital Delhi may face the problem of power and water cuts in some areas from today for the next two days. Disruption in power and water supply will be mainly due to repair of transformers and electrical cables by power companies.

Due to this ongoing repair work, some areas like Hauz Khas, Green Park, Motibagh, Dhaula Kuan may have power cut during day and night for some time. In such a situation, an appeal has been made by the power companies to make alternative arrangements for their customers.

Not only this, due to the repair work being done by the Delhi Jal Board, water service will be affected in some areas for about 10 hours from morning to evening on Monday.

Due to this, there will be no water in areas like Civil Lines, Hindurao Hospital, Naya Bazar, Nayabans, Chandni Chowk, Lahori Gate, Peeli Kothi, Kashmiri Gate, St. Stephen’s Hospital, Tirtha Ram Hospital, Rajpur Road etc. From 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening. Today.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has approved a project to lay a 34 km long sewer line in 39 unauthorized colonies of Najafgarh. According to the statement, about 55,000 people will benefit from this project. Sisodia said that 1,607 houses in Najafgarh would be provided free sewerage connections under the Chief Minister’s Free Sewer Connection Scheme.

He also directed the officials of Delhi Jal Board to complete the work within stipulated time.

There are 1,799 unauthorized colonies in Delhi. Of these, 725 have been connected to the sewerage network while work is underway on 573 others. Sewage from unauthorized colonies not connected to sewerage network flows directly into Yamuna.

The Delhi government has promised to clean the Yamuna to bathing standards by February 2025.

A river can be considered suitable for bathing if the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) – the amount of oxygen required for microbial metabolism of organic compounds in water – is less than 3 mg per liter and the dissolved oxygen is more than 5 mg per litre.
