Delhi witnessed its first fog of the season; Minimum temperature settles at 20 degrees

The day is forecast to be partly cloudy.

New Delhi:

Dense fog enveloped Delhi on Wednesday morning, reducing visibility to 350 meters in some parts of the capital.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) senior scientist RK Jenamani said that this is the first fog of the season in the capital.

Delhi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 20.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 31 degree Celsius.

The day is forecast to be partly cloudy.

An IMD official had earlier said that there was heavy haze due to prolonged rains, which increased the moisture content in the air.

According to the official, the visibility at Delhi’s primary weather station Safdarjung observatory had dropped to 600 meters and 350 meters at Palam weather station at 8.30 am.

It improved to 2,100 meters at Palam at 9 am and at Safdarjung by 10 am.

The air quality index of the capital stood at 66 at 9 am, which falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category.
