The list has been compiled by TasteAtlas, an experiential travel guide to traditional food cuisine.
If you thought the cheese craze was limited to India only, think again. This hero of vegetarian Indian cuisine has gone global. This is after two paneer recipes finished in the top five on the list of world’s best paneer dishes. And it is none other than everyone’s favorite Shahi Paneer and Paneer Tikka. According to the TasteAtlas survey, Shahi Paneer and Paneer Tikka have secured the third and fourth positions in the list of top 50 paneer dishes globally.
“These Are the 50 Best-Rated Cheese Dishes in the World! What’s Your Favorite?” Sharing the complete list, an Instagram page wrote in the caption.
TasteAtlas is an experiential travel guide to traditional food that highlights authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and popular ingredients and recipes. While Shahi Paneer and Paneer Tikka made India proud by topping the list, these two dishes alone were not representative of India. A total of seven Indian paneer dishes have been included in the ranking of 50 dishes. The list includes Matar Paneer, Palak Paneer, Saag Paneer, Kadai Paneer and Paneer Makhani, which are ranked 24th, 30th, 31st, 40th and 48th respectively.
Apart from these Indian dishes, famous food items such as mozzarella sticks, cheese fries, cheese and onion pie, and fondue among others have also been included in the list. Now many users have filled the comments section with countless food suggestions that should be included on this list. One user wrote, “The world must know Brazilian Cheese Bread… easily in the top 10 on this list!” Many desi people expressed their happiness to see Indian cuisine being included in the list, as one user commented, “Glad to see so many people from India.” Many users were seen cheering on their favorite dishes being added to the list. One user commented, “Guess, lots of Greek small plates with cheese.” Some claimed Turkey’s regional dish “kuymak” should be at the top, as one user wrote, “kuymak should be number 1.”
Well, it certainly proves George Bernard Shaw’s adage that “there is no greater love than the love of food.”
