Despite rise in COVID cases, 81.4% students are willing to return to schools: Survey

A survey by Brainly showed that despite the recent spike in Covid-19 cases, 81.4 per cent of students said they feel safe about returning to schools. It further said that 67 per cent of the students surveyed expressed excitement at returning to class, while about 56.4 per cent were happy with the prospect of meeting their friends and teachers.

Considering the increasing use of technology in learning, 73.6 per cent students said they use online platforms for homework and 30.5 per cent said they use gadgets regularly. The survey was conducted among middle and high school students to understand Indian students’ general sentiment about returning to the traditional classroom and what it means to them.

“After two years of remote, hybrid and socially distanced learning, students are now returning to classes. Despite disruptions, pandemic ushered in a new learning system for students India It is set to reinvent itself going forward,” said the survey.

Apart from the general feeling about going back to school, the survey also revealed that 27.1 per cent of students chose maths as their favorite subject, while 39.3 per cent reported it as the most challenging. English emerged as the second most preferred subject with 26.7 per cent votes, followed by science with 24.3 per cent.

Among the classroom activities Indian students enjoy the most, 36.5 per cent said they enjoy giving presentations, while 23.4 per cent spoke in favor of debate. While 57.1 percent of the students voted for extra-curricular activities, 49 percent chose sports as their preferred activity.
