Warner has not played a T20I for Australia since September 2020, missing the last 14 matches in four series due to a combination of injury, rest and schedule clashes.
He has faced a tough IPL season in two halves of the tournament, scoring just two half-centuries in eight innings. He was dropped as captain by Sunrisers during the first part of the IPL season in India.
He did not tour the Caribbean and Bangladesh mid-year with Australia to rest in the second half of the IPL and the World Cup, but scored just 0 and 2 in his first two matches when the IPL resumed in the UAE. Out again from Sunrisers side.

“My recovery has progressed really well over the past few weeks, so it’s more and more likely that I get fit and ready for them,” Finch said.
“And in terms of the intensity that I’ve been able to train, the amount of acceleration, the deceleration, putting a load through my knee, it’s all really positive. So, yeah, I don’t have a problem.”
Most members of the Aussie team have at least recently had game-time under their belts.
