Dhaakad Box Office Collection Day 1: Kangana RanautThe action film of the film failed to impress the audience and opened to a sluggish opening in the theaters on 20 May. Expected to turn the fortunes of Hindi box office collections, the film has disappointed with its low opening day. Also working hard opposite Divya Dutta starrer and Arjun Rampal film Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu starrer horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Very few people turn up for the screenings during the Rajneesh Ghai directorial’s morning show. From the genre of the film to earning an A certificate, several factors are being pointed to the failure of Kangana’s spy thriller. The film is said to have earned around 1 crore on its first day, falling in front of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to earn around Rs 14 crore.
As per Box Office India report, “Dhaakad has seen a very sluggish opening and may even struggle to earn more than 1 crore. The film is a female action film with Kangana Ranaut which is a media instead of box office. Star is more than star. So a film made at such a cost is a risk and the film hardly gets any chance.”
“The genre hasn’t worked long ago but maybe it could do better with a bigger star and the USP of a female action film would be a female action film, so it would probably have to be done in a different way, whereas it looks like this here. As in any hero-led spy film, a female character replaces a male character,” it added.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the film as “disappointing”. He took to Twitter and shared, “#OneWordReview…#Dhaakad: Disappointing. Rating: (Two Stars) Solid action and great performance [#Kangana exceptional, #ArjunRampal first-rate, #DivyaDutta superb] There are aces… but falter because of a regular plot, poor script, overabundance of action, and a weak finale. #DhakadReview.”
