Dhanteras 2022 is on 22nd or 23rd October? The festival of Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi will be celebrated on Sunday, 23 October. According to the Panchang, it is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha, which falls in the month of Ashwini in the Hindu calendar. Traditionally, Dhanteras marks the beginning of the five-day festival of Diwali, followed by Naraka Chaturdashi, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and finally Bhai Dooj.
Dhanteras is also celebrated as the birthday of Lord Dhanvantari, who is considered the physician of the gods. Therefore, this day has special significance for doctors. Dhanteras is also called ‘Dhanya Teras’ or ‘Dhyana Teras’ in Jainism because on this day Lord Mahavir went into meditation and attained Nirvana three days later on Diwali.

On October 23 this year, the auspicious time for shopping on Dhanteras will start from 07:03 pm to 10:39 pm. In this auspicious time, you can buy new utensils, gold and silver items.
Dhanteras worship method
Lord Dhanvantari, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, should be worshiped on the day of Dhanteras for good health, well being and a good life. While worshiping him, you will need a wooden post, incense, earthen lamp, cotton, fragrance, camphor, ghee, fruits, flowers, nuts, sweets and offerings.
According to the traditions, seven grains are also kept at the place of worship. The seven bowls of cereals include wheat, urad, moong, gram, barley, rice and lentils.
Clean the Northeast corner of the house and put a wooden post there. Spread a red cloth on that post and install the idol or picture of Lord Dhanvantari on it, along with the picture or idol of Lord Ganesha. Place a Kalash full of water in the north direction of the wooden pole and place a bowl full of rice on top of that Kalash.
Now tie Kalawa on the Kalash and make a swastika sign with Roli. Thus after the installation of the idol and the Kalash, the Lord should be invoked. Then first of all Ganesh ji and then Lord Dhanvantari should be duly worshipped. First of all, apply roli-rice to Ganesh ji and Dhanwantri ji. Offer them fragrance, flowers, as well as fruits and sweets. After that offer offerings to God.
Offering milk and rice kheer is considered auspicious. After offering Bhog, light incense, lamp and camphor and perform aarti of God.
