Dharmapuri Collector honored first year medical students

Collector S.Dhivyadharshini felicitated the first year students of Government Medical College Hospital here on Saturday. He also inaugurated a rehabilitation center for mentally challenged persons rescued from the streets.

An Anesthesia Work Station was also inaugurated at the hospital at ₹15.60 lakh sponsored by Thopppur-Palayam Pudur Toll Plaza.

The collector underlined the importance of medical education by handing over white coats and stethoscopes to the students. Unlike other vocational courses, where the dress of the profession was worn only upon completion of the course, medical education allowed students to wear white coats, bringing with it life-saving responsibility.

On this occasion 93 first year students of Government Medical College Hospital and six students who got admission in other medical colleges from 7.3% quota received white coat and stethoscope from collector. In addition, he also took the Hippocratic Oath in the presence of the Collector.
