DHFL scam: CBI seizes helicopter from Pune builder Avinash Bhosale’s premises

Raids are being conducted at various places for the last few days to trace the assets acquired from the income of DHFL scamofficials said.

Earlier this week, the CBI in its charge sheet had said that Bhosale Used 300 crores to acquire a property in 5 Strand London, valued at GBP 92.5 million, floats in the UK through Flora Developments Ltd.

It said, overall Bhosale’s companies got 569.22 crore from DHFL, which in turn had received funds from Yes Bank, it said. Bhosale used 300 crores of this money, released in the UK through Flora Developments Ltd., to acquire a property in 5 Strand London, valued at GBP 92.5 million.

The central agency has arrested Bhosale in the alleged scam. The chargesheet was filed in the special CBI court earlier this week.

The federal probe agency had on June 20 booked Dewan Housing Finance Ltd (DHFL), its former CMD Kapil Wadhawan, director Deepak Wadhawan and others in a bank fraud case. 34,615 crore, making it the biggest case probed by the agency, officials said.

It was alleged that he defrauded a consortium of 17 banks led by Union Bank of India By diverting 34,615 crore bank loans using bogus ledger accounts of DHFL.

They allegedly used fake companies and a parallel accounting system, known as ‘Bandra Books’, to fund public funds in DHFL in the form of retail loans to fictitious entities.

The scam started taking shape between April and June, 2018 when Yes Bank invested 3,700 crore in short-term debentures of scam-hit DHFL, the CBI said. DHFL’s Wadhawans Reportedly Paid “Kickbacks” 600 crores” in return as a loan to Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor and his family members to DOIT Urban Ventures (India) Pvt Ltd, controlled by Kapoor’s daughters Roshini, Radha and Rakhi.
