Lewis hamilton Went fastest in first qualifying, recording a lap time of 1:18.374, followed by his teammate George Russell seconds behind him. Carlos Sainz finished third with defending champion Max Verstappen in fourth. Lando Norris was fifth fastest in Q1. Verstappen finished first in Q2 after posting the fastest lap time of 1:17.03, with Ferrari’s Leclerc +0.065 seconds behind and his teammate Sainz in fourth. Fernando Alonso, sitting at number three, separated the two. Lewis Hamilton was the fastest to finish fifth in the second qualifying. Despite a relaxation on the track limit, Sergio Perez could not improve his time enough to make it into Q3. Mexican Zhou Guanyue finished 11th fastest, ahead of Kevin Magnussen, Lance Stroll and Mick Schumacher.

“I have no power,” Verstappen was heard saying on team radio. The Red Bull Racing driver finished 10th, which means he will start tomorrow’s race just ahead of his teammate. George Russell took the fastest lap in Q3, followed by Ferrari duo Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in second and third respectively. Lando Norris finished fourth ahead of Alpine drivers Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso. Lewis Hamilton could only finish P7, followed by Valtteri Bottas in eighth and Daniel Ricciardo in ninth.
