CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami said on Saturday Violation of provisions of Article 370 It has left a deep mark on the psyche of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our party will continue to work tirelessly to restore our lost identity and constitutional rights. Uncertainty and uneasy peace coupled with deep isolation pose a major threat to the region. The abrogation of Article 370 has left a deep mark on the psyche of the people of J&K and pushed them to the wall,” said Mr Tarigami, also the spokesperson of the Gupkar alliance.

The CPI(M) staged a road dharna in Srinagar on Saturday. Supporters holding placards raised slogans against the anti-people and repressive policies of the BJP government.

“The BJP government has taken repressive measures to quell dissent. Hundreds of people, including political, religious and social activists, were booked under various harsh laws and shifted to jails outside Jammu and Kashmir. We demand an immediate review of the cases of all those who are in custody to facilitate their release.” They said.

Mr Tarigami also questioned the government on its claims of employment generation, investment and other promises in the region after the abrogation of Article 370. “All the promises made by the present central government proved to be a mirage,” he said.
