Diploma in Welfare for Police Officers launched

After completing the course, 112 personnel of the department will become ‘master trainer’

Director General of Police C. Silendra Babu on Monday launched the three-month NIMHANS Diploma Course in Psychological Welfare for Police Officers.

The program was launched in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).

On 29 July Chief Minister MK Stalin presided over the passing out parade of 86 Deputy Superintendents of Police and on 1 September launched the training of newly appointed Police Sub-Inspectors. In these programs, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of creating. “Master Trainer” in the Police Department, who will train the police personnel on physical and mental health.

The launch of Diploma courses is the first step to achieve the objective of the Chief Minister.

Dr Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS, Bengaluru presided over the inaugural function and delivered the speech through video conferencing. Shri Babu released the course brochure and addressed the master trainers.

Of the 246 candidates for the online course, 112 are from the police department and 134 are private counselors. The trainers will provide health training to 1.3 lakh police personnel and 3 lakh families of police personnel after obtaining the diploma certificate. This course will be run in all the districts.

Additional DGP (Welfare) Shailesh Kumar Yadav will coordinate the conduct of the diploma course.
