Looking back at Rishi and Neetu’s courtship period, Talwar reveals, “It was quite common in those days for a couple to quarrel and then get involved in the process of making up. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor were a solid support system for each other. When they decided to get married, it was only natural that their families would agree. The Kapoor family was fond of Neetu and they agreed to the marriage, so Rishi and Neetu got married in 1980.

He further recounts the funny moments he shared with Rishi-Neetu and how they adopted a new way of ending the lovers’ feud. He says, “On my sets, there used to be times when Rishi and Neetu used to argue and then sit at some distance from each other. I used to go to both of them and persuade them and say, ‘What’s the matter between you two?’. And if they resisted my charms and took more than a few seconds to patch up, I would get upset and fit in. And that worked like a charm. Both Rishi and Neetu would give up their anger and run to my rescue. It was an old director’s jugaad.”
