Disciplinary action initiated against constable who slapped minor boy

Disciplinary action has been initiated against a beat constable of Delhi Police for allegedly slapping a minor boy following a dispute over a skateboard ride in south-west Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave.

A video of the incident posted by a friend of the boy went viral on social media. In the purported video, the constable can be seen fighting with a group of boys and eventually slapping one of them.

Delhi Police posted on their official Twitter account that they have taken cognizance of the misbehavior by a constable with a minor boy. Delhi Police tweeted, “Concerned authorities have been asked to ascertain the facts and take appropriate action.”

Residents’ complaint

The constable was posted in the area after several residents of B-6 block complained of “nuisance by skateboarders”. DCP (South West) Manoj C said: “On July 8, beat constable Ajit Singh was on duty. He told the boys not to go skateboarding in the B6 market as it is dangerous for the residents. An argument broke out between the beat constable and the boys, during which he slapped one of them to control the situation.

The DCP said that they have taken disciplinary action against the beat constable and further investigation in the matter is on.
