‘do you remember?’ CM Sarma and Kejriwal create ruckus on Twitter, Himanta reminds AAP chief of ‘old promise’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal continued their Twitter controversy on Sunday, with the BJP leader reminding the AAP chief of one of his election promises. According to Sarma, Kejriwal came to power in Delhi on a promise to change the national capital to London, but has since started comparing the city to “smaller towns in Assam and the Northeast”.

He further said that if the BJP gets resources like the national capital, it will make a city “the richest city in the world”.

In March 2017, Kejriwal promised that if his party won the MCD elections, he would turn Delhi into London, but later clarified that he only meant ‘Delhi will be as clean as London’.

“You came to power promising to make Delhi like London and Paris, don’t you remember @ArvindKejriwal ji? When he couldn’t do anything, he started comparing Delhi with smaller towns in Assam and Northeast! Trust me, if BJP gets a city and resources like Delhi, the party will make it the most prosperous city in the world,” the Assam CM said in a tweet in Hindi.

CM Kejriwal said in his reply, “You did not answer my question – “When should I come to see your government school? It doesn’t matter if the school is not good. will fix it together. ,

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Assam counterpart took to Twitter on Saturday to ask Himanta Biswa Sarma when he should visit schools in the northeastern state.

I asked you – ‘When should I come to see your government school’, you did not tell. Tell me, when can I come, only then can I come.”

His latest tweet comes in response to Sarma’s comment on the microblogging site on Friday. In a series of tweets, he had shared some of the differences between Delhi and Assam, mocking Kejriwal.

“Dear @ArvindKejriwal ji, your ignorance is painful. let me help you. Assam is 50 times bigger than Delhi! Our 44521 government schools teach 65 lakh students as against your 1000+ odd schools. Our army of dedicated teachers number 2+ lakhs; Mid-day meal workers 1.18 lakh. fathom?” he tweeted.

In another tweet, Sarma said, “And yes, when you are in Assam, which you so desperately desire, I will take you to our medical colleges, 1000 times better than your Mohalla clinic. Our brightest Also meet government school teachers and students.” He added in Hindi “Stop bothering about making” India Number 1, Modiji is doing this.

Sarma on Thursday took to Twitter to hit out at Kejriwal over the integration of schools and asked him to “do his homework” before commenting. “Dear @ArvindKejriwal ji- As always you commented on something without any homework! from my days education Minister so far, please note, Government of Assam has established/acquired more than 8,610 new schools,” he had tweeted.

He had also asked how many schools the Delhi government started in the last seven years. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief had responded to Sarma’s tweet on Friday.

“Oh, looks like you have committed a crime. I didn’t mean to point out your shortcomings. We are all one country. We have to learn from each other, only then will India become the number one country,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi. He further said that he was ready to visit Assam and asked Sarma when he should visit the northeastern state.

“You show me your good work in the field of education. You come to Delhi, I will show you work in Delhi,” he said. Kejriwal had tweeted on Wednesday in response to a news report that claimed that the Assam government has closed 34 schools due to poor results.

Sarma later claimed that since his tenure as education minister, the state government has taken over government schools, either provincial or private, from 2013 until now, and this includes 6,802 primary and 1,589 secondary schools, 81 for Kasturba Gandhi Balikas.
