Tesla CEO and Twitter’s largest shareholder Elon Musk tweeted a poll asking users if they wanted an edit button on the micro-blogging site.
Musk launched a survey after becoming Twitter’s largest shareholder. Science enthusiast and entrepreneur Musk’s ultimate goal of buying 73.5 million shares worth $3 billion at Friday’s closing price remains unclear.
The poll, put out by Musk about 13 hours ago, has so far garnered more than 2 million votes.
Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal, among millions of respondents, also responded to Musk’s tweet, saying, “The results of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”
Last month in March, Musk put out another poll in which users were asked whether – Twitter follows free speech and the platform is undermining democracy.
Regulatory filings on Monday said Musk bought the shares on March 14, describing him as a long-term investor who wanted to minimize his buying and selling of shares.
This means that Musk acquired shares before the First Amendment and began his public speech on Twitter.
Yet Musk has publicly raised the prospect of launching a rival social media network to his vast and loyal Twitter following.
Industry analysts are skeptical about whether business CEOs will stay on the sidelines for long.
