‘Doctor’, husband cheats job seekers of 50 lakhs, runs away. Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: The city’s crime branch has constituted a special team to nab a 39-year-old woman and her husband who cheated them of Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of a job in a hospital.

I met her to inquire about job opportunities and later gave her 3 lakhs to get a job for her sister who was pursuing a career in nursing,” he said.
“Dhanya contacted me in September 2021 and told me that she can get me a clerical position in the hospital for 5 lakhs. I met her and her husband Karunanidhi in their apartment singanallur On September 18, 2021. They asked me to pay 2 lakh first and the rest in installments. I transferred the amount to their accounts on September 20 and 21 and gave Rs 3 lakh in cash,” Nufail said. “Dhanya contacted me in November 2021 to hand over the appointment letter. But the letter states that I can join duty as an attender on December 12, 2021. When I asked her why I was not given the clerical post, she said that she would sort out the issue soon.
Dhanya and Karunanidhi tell Nufail that there are many vacancies in the hospital and ask him to find people who are interested in them. “I told my friends about the opportunities and eight of them gave 50 lakhs to the couple. The couple asked us to go to Chennai in February to attend an inquiry, where a man collected our original certificates. We were asked to stay there for five days. When we tried to get back in touch with the couple, their phones were switched off. We came to know that they have duped many youths on the pretext of jobs and issued fake offer letters.
Based on Nufail’s complaint, CCB Inspector Renuga on Friday registered a case against the couple under sections 120 (b), 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had duped 25-year-old P Murugan, a resident of SLS Nagar, Sulur, of 15 lakhs on the pretext of a job in the hospital. Based on their complaint, the Singanallur police registered a case of cheating against the couple in March 2022.
“The couple adopted the same method to deceive the people in Madurai. We believe that he duped hundreds of youths in and around Coimbatore district and earned over Rs 2 crore,” said an official.
