DoE announces extension of revised 2020-21 promotion policy for class 9, 11 students

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) on Friday announced the extension of the revised 2020-21 promotion policy for the current academic session for class 9 and 11 students of private and government schools in view of “extraordinary circumstances” due to COVID-19. 19 pandemic. If any private school wishes to have different criteria, it may take prior approval of the Director (Education) before declaring the result, the order said. Under the policy, the result of students will be calculated for promotion or upgradation to the next higher class on the basis of marks of mid-term examination (Term-1), marks of annual examination (Term-2) and marks of internal examination. It said, “A student will be granted a maximum of 15 grace marks for reaching a minimum of 33 per cent marks in only one or any subject, for promotion to the next higher class.” “If a student does not obtain 33 per cent marks in class IX in any one language i.e. Language-I or Language-II, the third language chosen by the student and qualified (33 per cent and above marks) will be either Language-1 or Language-2 only for promotion to the next higher class,” read the policy.

This policy makes it mandatory for students to qualify for the additional subject paper chosen by them before appearing in Class 10 and 12 in the CBSE board examinations. It also states that the skill course subject chosen by a student in class 9 shall not replace any elective subject. The schools which conducted the examination in mixed mode for Term-II will be allowed to calculate the result on the basis of marks obtained by the students. “Due to lack of parental consent, if a student could not appear in the offline examination of Term-II or the school could not conduct the offline/online examination…, the school would conduct such examination in offline mode after March 3. The marks obtained by the students in this examination will be used for calculating the result,” it said.

The policy also states that if a student is not able to appear in Term-1 or Term-2 examination for any reason or obtains less than 33 per cent marks in one or more subjects, he/she will not be allowed to appear in the subjects. would be eligible for. Compartment Examination to be held in offline mode after March 31 Compartment examinations will be conducted on the basis of syllabus, design of question papers and weightage (Term-2) of marks of annual examinations.

The results of compartment examination will be declared on the basis of change of marks obtained by the student in compartment examination along with internal assessment, project, practical or all taken together. “For conversion of marks, the marks obtained in compartment examinations and the marks obtained will be multiplied by two,” it said. The student has to secure 33 per cent marks in the subject for which he/she has given compartment examination. It said that no benefit of grace marks will be given to the students for computing the result of compartment examination.
