DOE issues guidelines for admission to vacant seats of pre-primary, primary classes

New Delhi The Directorate of Education (DoE) on Tuesday said that admission to vacant seats in government Sarvodaya Vidyalayas for pre-primary and primary classes for the academic session 2023-2024 will be given on ‘first-come-first-served’ basis from April 24.

Soon the status of vacant seats will be displayed in the schools, the Directorate of Education said in a statement.

DoE said that the seats of students placed under long absence during the current session and not admitted to any other school (with documentary proof) will be treated as vacant.

“Preference should be given to those applicants who have applied for admission on transfer basis from Sarvodaya Vidyalayas of DOE,” the circular said.

The DoE further said, “Children living within one km radius of the school (if Sarvodaya Vidyalaya is not available in the vicinity, within 3 km radius of the school) will be eligible to apply.”

No child with disability, destitute child, refugee/asylum seeker, homeless, migrant, orphan or child in need of care and protection in any government school shall be denied admission for non-availability of required documents at the time of submission . documents at school,” the DOE circular added.

Temporary admission will be allowed for 30 days on the basis of an affidavit from the parents/guardians.

“The cluster resource coordinator and the school management committee members will help the students to provide these documents so that the provisional admissions can be regularized within the stipulated time and the students can avail the benefits of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). scholarship in their bank accounts,” the circular said.

The DoE in its circular also stated that students who have got admission under ‘Plan’ or ‘Non-Plan’ category during the current academic session will not be considered for transfer by the Heads of Schools (HOS).

It added that the HOS will manually forward all such applications for transfer to the Zonal Grievance Redressal Committee.

Committee has been constituted at regional level to look into the issues related to admission and transfer of students within the respective regions of DOE for admission.

It said that the eligible cases recommended for transfer would be forwarded manually by the DDE (Zone) to the DE (District) who would examine these cases afresh and forward the online School Leaving Certificate (SLC) request to the desired schools.
