‘Don’t want to be President’ Mayawati responds to Akhilesh, accuses SP of atrocities on Muslims

Mayawati accused the Samajwadi Party and the BJP of working together to promote polarization and alleged that Akhilesh Yadav’s party is responsible for atrocities on Muslims today.

In a statement to ANI on Thursday, BSP chief Mayawati said, “Samajwadi Party is responsible for the atrocities being committed on Muslims today. Both SP and BJP have a hand and they should stop spreading rumours now. If Dalit-Muslims come together then I can dream of becoming CM of UP or maybe PM, but I can never think of becoming President.

Akhilesh Yadav had recently said that Mayawati wants to become the president and hence her vote went to BJP.

Attacking the SP chief, he said that there is a lot of talk that he can run away from the country. “Today the people of SP are dreaming of making me the president, which they should forget. They want this so that the way is cleared for them to become the CM of UP, which is not possible. The Muslims and Yadavs of UP have also seen by voting that even after forming an alliance with many parties, the SP could not form the government. That’s why now these people will form the government of BSP.

On the meeting of BSP General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra and CM Yogi Adityanath, the BSP chief said, ‘The monuments built in the memory of Dalits are being ignored. They are not maintained properly, even if a bulb fuses, it is not replaced. I want to demand proper maintenance of monuments from BJP government. In this regard, my letter was handed over to the CM of UP by SC Mishra of BSP.

Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections together. However, when things did not work in his favour, he broke the alliance. In the last one year, many BSP leaders have joined the SP but the SP has not been able to get the magic number in the UP assembly. In the recently concluded UP Assembly elections, the SP increased its MLAs from 47 to 111, while in the last elections, the BSP decreased from 19 to just 1 MLA.
