DPSRU inaugurates center of excellence in precision medicine – Times of India

Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University inaugurated the 110 feet high National Flag Mast and Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine To create value in India’s health care delivery system
The Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, celebrating 75 years of India’s independence, saw the inauguration of a fully integrated one, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University. center of excellence Delhi Chief Secretary Shri Naresh Kumar inaugurated Precision Medicine with state-of-the-art technology in genetics, genomics, laboratory automation and bioinformatics.
The Center of Excellence, the first of its kind in India’s first Pharmacy University, aims to provide prompt and accurate diagnosis of diseases, helping in selecting the right medicine at the right time for the patient. Differences in people’s genetic composition, environment, and lifestyle when prescribing drugs to treat communicable and non-communicable diseases such as cancer and diabetes. DPSRU-Center for Precision Medicine and Pharmacy (DCPMP) was approved and funded by Delhi Knowledge Development Foundation (DKDF), DTTE, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
After unfurling the National Flag, the dignitaries were given a visit to the DPSRU-Center for Precision Medicine and Pharmacy. Professor (Dr) Ramesh K Goel, Vice Chancellor, DPSRU briefed about the research achievements of the University, especially during the COVID era. During the welcome address, Prof. Goyal shared his research experience in genomics and addressed the gathering that precision medicine would be the most emerging approach to disease treatment and prevention in the present times.
Professor (Dr.) Geeta Agarwal, Dean Academics, briefed about the specific mandate of the Center to promote transdisciplinary national level research collaboration to focus on precision medicine and treatment modalities for Indian patients. has been installed for. Prof Geeta informed that the newly developed facility of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) can be helpful in the identification of infectious diseases caused by various viruses and bacteria including COVID-19, Cervical Cancer, Down Syndrome, Tuberculosis (TB) etc. through Genome Sequencing. can. ,
The center is committed to strengthening practical knowledge among young and active researchers and academics, as well as to advancing knowledge and awareness of the potential and advancement in precision medicine-based research that uses genomes and proteomics in their studies. excited to do. During the inaugural address, Shri Naresh Kumar spoke to Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh K. Expressed his sincere appreciation for the significant achievements of DPSRU under the guidance of Goyal. Shri Naresh Kumar also extended support to all research efforts of the University on a fast track basis. DCPMP is instrumental in conducting practical training sessions and expert lectures in the domain area. The center is starting a 4-month certificate program in next generation sequencing and its applications from the current academic year 2022-23. Presently, the center is equipped with high-end equipment like Next Generation Sequencer (NGS), Polymerase Chain Reaction Analyzer (PCR), Biochemistry Analyzer, Blotting and Electrophoresis System. The National Flag Mast ceremony was inaugurated by Professor (Dr) Rajeev Tonk, Dean Student Welfare and Professor (Dr) Richa Rai, Extra Curricular Incharge of the University. The inauguration of the DPSRU-Center for Precision Medicine in Pharmacy was well coordinated by the project team of DCPMP, Prof (Dr) Geeta Agarwal, Dr Jasila Majeed, Dr Ajit K Thakur, Dr Ruchika Sharma, Dr Subodh Gupta, Ms Kirti, and Mr Javed By.
It is noteworthy that the 110 feet high national flag structure was also inaugurated on the same day by the Hon’ble Chief Secretary in the campus. The National Flag Mast will be hoisted throughout the campus and will instill a sense of pride and honor in all the brave hearts who have laid down their lives for the freedom of our country.
The event was attended by Mrs. Alize Vaz, Secretary Training and Technical Education (TTE), GNCTD, Prof. Ramesh K. Goel, Vice Chancellor, Dr. O P Shukla, Registrar along with faculty, students and staff of the University.
