New Delhi: NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu On Thursday, he created history by becoming the first tribal leader to be elected as the President of India.
Murmu had stamped his victory in presidential election on the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha By only crossing the halfway mark by the end of the third round and voting by more than 53% of the vote.
She will be the first president to be born after independence and the youngest to hold the top post. She is also the second woman to become president.

Murmu won by a huge margin against Sinha after securing over 64 per cent of valid votes in a day-long counting of MPs and MLAs, including the electoral college, to succeed Ram Nath Kovid to become the country’s 15th President .

After the end of the counting process that lasted more than 10 hours, Returning Officer PC Modi declared Murmu the winner and said he got 6,76,803 votes against Sinha’s 3,80,177 votes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Draupadi visited Murmu’s residence to congratulate her as she secured an unbeatable lead over opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.

“India writes history. At a time when 1.3 billion Indians are celebrating the nectar festival of independence, India’s daughter from a tribal community born in a remote part of eastern India has been elected our President! Mrs. Draupadi Murmu ji Congratulations. This achievement,” PM Modi said on Twitter.

He said, “Draupadi Murmu ji’s life, her early struggles, her rich service and her exemplary success inspire every Indian. She emerged as a beacon of hope for our citizens, especially the poor, marginalized and downtrodden. Huh.”

Yashwant Sinha conceded defeat after the third round of counting and congratulated Draupadi Murmu on her victory.
Yashwant Sinha said on Twitter, “I join my fellow citizens in congratulating Mrs. Draupadi Murmu on her victory in Presidential Election 2022. India hopes that as the 15th President of the Republic, she will not be afraid or afraid. Act as a custodian of the Constitution of partisanship.”

In a statement, Sinha thanked the leaders of the opposition parties for choosing him as their candidate in this election.

“I also thank all the members of the Electoral College who voted for me. I accepted the proposal of the opposition parties wholly guided by the philosophy of Karma Yoga preached by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita – ‘do your duty without expecting fruit’ Do’.” said Sinha.
How every round took Draupadi Murmu closer to Rashtrapati Bhavan
In the first round, the votes cast by the MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were counted. Murmu got 540 votes out of 748 votes of MPs, while Yashwant Sinha got 208 votes.
In the second round, the votes of the MLAs of 10 states were counted. While Murmu got the votes of 809 MLAs out of a total of 1138 MLAs in 10 states with a count of 1,05,299, 329 MLAs voted 44,276 for Sinha in the second round.
Draupadi Murmu crossed the 50% mark in the third round and sealed her victory in the presidential election. He got votes from 812 MLAs as against Sinha’s 521.
Draupadi Murmu’s numbers increased due to cross voting
News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that a large number of legislators of state assemblies cross-voted in support of Draupadi Murmu, defying their parties’ support to opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
BJP sources said around 125 MLAs from different assemblies cross-voted in his support. The counting of votes also shows that Murmu was the beneficiary of the cross-voting of 17 MPs.
A large number of opposition legislators voted in favor of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance candidate in the Assam, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh assemblies.
