The Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo System developed by DRDO was successfully launched from Wheeler Island in Odisha on December 13, 2021. The system is a next generation missile-based standoff torpedo delivery system. The full range capability of the missile was successfully demonstrated during the mission. The system is designed to enhance the anti-submarine warfare capability far beyond the conventional range of torpedoes.
