The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday, January 23, 2023 arrested a dreaded Naxalite accused of participating in an ambush in which four Border Security Force personnel were killed.
Ranju Khilo alias Chanti alias Bisanta, 40, was arrested from Malkangiri on Tuesday. He will be produced in the NIA court in Bhubaneswar. Just before the panchayat elections in 2012, banned CPI (Maoist) cadres staged an ambush in Chitrakonda.
Four BSF personnel – Commandant JK Khaswan, Deputy Commandant Rajesh Saran, Subedar Ashok Yadav and Assistant Sub-Inspector Jitendra Sahu – were killed when they were traveling in a sports utility vehicle to oversee security arrangements for the elections. Odisha Police extended full cooperation for the arrest of Khilo.
The Nabarangpur police on Tuesday reported the arrest of two Maoists, including an area committee member. from Nabarangpur district.
