Drunk US airline passenger pees on fellow passenger: Reports

An inebriated passenger allegedly urinated on a fellow male passenger on a New York-New Delhi American Airlines flight, sources said on March 5.

The incident reportedly took place in flight number AA292, which took off from New York at 9:16 pm on Friday and landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here at 10:12 pm on Saturday after a flight of 14 hours 26 minutes. ,

An airport source said, “The accused is a student of an American university.

He said that after the student apologized, the male victim was reluctant to report the matter to the police as it could jeopardize his career. However, the airline took it seriously and informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at IGI Airport.

After the crew came to know about the incident on board, they informed the pilot who informed the matter to ATC, who in turn alerted CISF personnel, who handed over the accused passenger to Delhi Police.

Another source at the airport said, “After the incident came to light, the airline’s own security team along with CISF swung into action. The accused was immediately taken into custody as soon as the flight landed. Police is recording the statements of the concerned persons.” ” informed PTI,

As per civil aviation rules, if a passenger is found guilty of unruly behaviour, he/she will be banned from flying for a specific time period depending on the level of the offence, apart from action under criminal law.

This is the second such incident in the last few months when an inebriated passenger slapped his co-traveller.

On November 26, an almost similar incident happened in a New York-Delhi Air India flight, in which a person named Shankar Mishra allegedly urinated while intoxicated on an elderly woman.

That incident came to light about a month later through a media report, following which an FIR was registered and Mr. Mishra was arrested. He was released on bail after spending about a month in jail.

DGCA Fined ₹30 lakh On Air India for not reporting the matter within 12 hours of the incident as per norms.

While the Delhi Police is investigating the matter, Mr Mishra has been banned from flying for four months.
