DU Admissions: Around 50,000 students accepted seat allotted in first list

Around 50,000 candidates have accepted the seats allotted to them in Delhi University’s first round of allotment till 10 am on Thursday. The university on Wednesday announced the first list of seat allotment with the names of over 80,000 candidates for admission to various undergraduate programmes.

Students have been given three days from October 19 to October 21 to “accept” the allotted seat. “The university allotted 80,164 seats in various categories. On Thursday, 49,620 candidates had accepted the seats allotted to them,” said Admissions Dean Hanit Gandhi.

The university had started the admission process for 70,000 undergraduate seats in various colleges last month. This year, the university is admitting students on the basis of their Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores instead of their class 12 marks. On September 12, the university released the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), its admission-cum-allocation policy.

The first seat allotment list marks the beginning of the third and final stage of the admission process. The provision for acceptance of a particular allotted seat will be valid only for the round in which the seat was allotted to the candidate. Colleges will be able to verify and approve online applications from October 19 to October 22.

For the first round of CSAS allotment and admission, the last date for online payment of admission fee is October 24. In terms of provisional seat allotment, ‘seat allotted’ refers to a unique combination of program plus college.

As per the data provided by the university, over 1.5 lakh applicants marked their college and course preferences till the last date of Phase II last week. The allotment list is not released in the public domain and candidates will be able to view the colleges and courses allotted to them on their dashboard only. Candidate has to click on “Accept Allotment” under User Action Tab.
