eBikeGo to set up EV manufacturing plant through subsidiary Vajram Electric

Electric bike startup eBikeGo on Monday announced that it will set up a manufacturing facility for its Muvi and Velocipedo brands of electric vehicles through its subsidiary Vajram Electric.

The facility will develop a range of product portfolios along with powertrains for both domestic and international markets, ebikego said in a statement.

Vajram Electric is a specialized business entity set up to meet the manufacturing requirements of eBikeGo, the company said in a statement.

The company announced late last year to acquire manufacturing and marketing rights for the European scooter e Muvi as well as manufacturing rights to the electric trike Velocipado from Spanish automotive company Tarot.

With state-of-the-art technology and business intelligence, Vajram will build an integrated EV (Electric Vehicle) ecosystem. The company said it will develop a two-wheeler powertrain that enables a variety of vehicle configurations.

eBikeGo also said that its subsidiary will manufacture several future product portfolios of vehicles for India as well as international markets.

“We aim to be the first electric mobility company in India to build an integrated EV Ecosystem. A dedicated quality EV manufacturing unit is the need of the hour and Vajram Electric is the first and foremost step towards achieving this goal. Vajram will offer modular, purpose-built EVs to solve the future of electric mobility,” said Irrfan Khan, Founder-CEO, eBikeGo.

The company said that for its product pipeline for different use cases, a contract manufacturing facility will be able to reduce costs as well as work on low volume changes by optimizing platform sharing.

eBikeGo is currently present in seven cities and has over 2,500 vehicles in the EV rental space.

The company is actively working with all major last-mile distribution companies and plans to bring a fleet of 2,00,000 bikes on the road to around 100 cities, aiming to target 2 percent of the domestic electric two-wheeler market. . country according to the statement.
