Education loan, monthly stipend, insurance for children who have lost parents to Covid-19 under PM CARES

Children who have lost their parents to Covid-19 will get a monthly stipend of Rs 4,000 per month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced. It will be distributed under PM CARES scheme for children which will also provide educational loan to such children.

Among measures to support children who have lost their parents coronavirus pandemic, prime minister Narendra Modi PM Cares passbook and health card issued for children under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Under Ayushman Bharat Bima Yojana, these children can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.

Taking the children through video conferencing, the PM said, “I am not taking your Prime Minister to you but as a member of your family.” Expressing condolences for those lost, Modi said, “I know how difficult the situation is for those who have lost their family members during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Education loan for vocational courses, for higher education, PM-CARES will help in that too. The PM said through video conference that Rs 4,000 has been arranged for him every month through other schemes for other daily needs. A helpline called Samvad has also been started to address their emotional needs.

After announcing these initiatives, the PM said, “I understand that no one can replace the loss of your parents, however, this is an effort to help you overcome the loss.”

For children by the Prime Minister in May 2021 to support children who have been lost to both parents or legal guardians or adoptive parents or surviving parents during the period from March 2020 to February 2022. PM CARES scheme was launched. A portal named pmcaresforchildren.in was launched to register the children. The portal is a single window system that facilitates the approval process and all other support for the children. The objective of the scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children. Under the scheme, children get financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh on attaining the age of 23 years and health insurance.
