Austrian broadcaster ORF said the man killed in Saturday’s avalanche in the Schmiren municipality of Tyrol state was a 58-year-old local.
Police said another member of the group, a 43-year-old Swede, was able to call for help and was saved.
Police said emergency services found the bodies of two Austrian skiers, a 61-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man at 00:40 a.m. local time on Saturday after their relatives raised the alarm when they could not be contacted.
The pair set out in the Tyrol area on Friday afternoon and the man told a contact by phone at 3:30 p.m. local time that they had reached the 1,868-metre (6,129-ft) Breiteague peak. That was his last contact.
“When he could not be contacted, relatives made an emergency call around 9:40 pm,” police said in a statement.
