The Kancharapalem police team, led by SHO Krishna Rao, arrested an eight-member gang on Sunday night for possession of eight kg of dry ganja and arms.
All those arrested were in the age group of 18 to 20 years and are residents of different areas like Kancharapalem, Thatchetpalem, Airport Police Station Seema and Two Town Police Station Seema.
The gang members were roaming in an auto rickshaw and on checking the police team found four sharp weapons along with ganja.
On being questioned, he reportedly said that he was addicted to ganja and alcohol and was also selling weed. They were also allegedly involved in extortion of money by showing weapons and threatening the victims.
The arrested people were sent on remand on Monday.
