EIL, Guyana Power and Gas Inc ink pact for consultancy services

Engineers India Limited (EIL) has signed a contract with Guyana Power & Gas Inc., a wholly owned company of the Government of Guyana, to provide consultancy services for the Integrated NGL Plant and 300 MW CCGT Power Plant Project in Guyana.

The contract was signed today by Marcia Nadir Sharma, Director, Guyana Power & Gas Inc. and Atul Gupta, Director (Commercial), EIL, in the presence of Guyana President Mohamed Irfan Ali and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Gas and Vartika Shukla, CMD, EIL made the statement on behalf of EIL.

The estimated value of the contract is around $22 million, it said.

Commenting on this development, Vartika Shukla, CMD, EIL said: “The signing of the contract between Guyana Power & Gas Inc. and EIL for a power plant project in Guyana, is a major step forward for Guyana in fast-tracking future development. This is a significant step forward for EIL’s deeper engagement with the initiative.”

The President of Guyana is on a seven-day visit to India till January 14. Both sides discussed cooperation in the energy sector.

A statement from the Ministry of Petroleum on Thursday said that the Union Petroleum Minister and the President of Guyana discussed government-to-government cooperation in Guyana’s hydrocarbon sector.

According to the ministry, the leaders held useful and engaging discussions on enhancing cooperation across the entire oil and gas ecosystem and noted the synergies that exist between the two countries.

The leaders also agreed on direct government-to-government cooperation across the entire spectrum of the oil and gas sector, including long-term growth, participation in exploration and production activities in Guyana, technical cooperation in the midstream and downstream sector, and capacity building.
