Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]Feb 26 (ANI): Actor Akshay Kumar’s latest film ‘Selfie’ has failed to create footfall at the cinema halls.
Many questioned the choice of Akshay as he recently starred in back-to-back flops.
Reacting to this, producer Ekta Kapoor came out in support of Khiladi Kumar and penned a strongly worded message praising Akshay and his professionalism.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Ekta wrote, “Akshay Kumar is the most reliable, relatable actor to work with!!! Suppressing the tabloid culture of putting someone down for exposing their weaknesses is a huge understatement!!!”
She also added the hashtag- “Insensitive.”
Ekta’s post comes a day after Akshay and Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Selfie’ hit the theatres. Unfortunately, Selfie, which was supposed to be one of the most anticipated films of 2023, registered a low opening at the box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the film’s opening day collections as “disastrous”.
Taran Adarsh wrote in his tweet: “Selfie has a disastrous first day…sends shock waves across the industry…one of the lowest opening ever for a film that has so many prominent names attached.. .Fri Rs 255 cr + India biz.”
Akshay’s last hit was ‘Suryavanshi’, which released in 2021. The film was directed by Rohit Shetty and featured Akshay as a cop.
It remains to be seen how Akshay’s upcoming films like ‘Oh My God 2’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru’ remake perform. (ANI)
