Elections for 224 bodies in Bihar in October, nomination closed on September 24

According to the notification issued by the SEC on Friday, all the 17 municipal corporations, including Patna, will vote in the second phase on October 20.

Municipal elections will be held in Bihar in two phases on October 10 and 20 Election Commission announced. Elections will be held for 224 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state.

Counting of votes for the first phase will be held on October 12, while for the second phase the polling will be held on October 22. Polling will be held in the second phase in all 17 municipal corporations including Patna. On October 20, according to a notification issued by the SEC on Friday.

Polling will be held in both the phases from 7 am to 5 pm. The nomination forms for the first phase can be submitted till September 21 and the last date for withdrawal is September 24. The nomination for the second phase is till September 26 and the last date for withdrawal is September 29.

For the elections to be held on October 10, symbols will be allotted to the candidates on September 25, while those for the second phase will be allotted on September 30. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the elections to urban local bodies. Among the municipal bodies where voting is being held, there are 44 Nagar Parishads and 95 Nagar Panchayats. Altogether 1,14,52,759 voters – 60,17,882 males and 54,34,455 females – are eligible to exercise their franchise.
