Electric ‘Bolero’ pickup teased: May 15 launch under Mahindra’s ‘Born Electric’ – Times of India

As enthusiasts eagerly await the launch of 5 new all-electric SUVs under its ‘Born Electric’ programme, the automaker has released yet another teaser that may hold clues as to what one of the SUVs will be like. Will happen. In the teaser video, a Bolero pickup truck-like outline can be seen with the tag line ‘The future of pick-ups’.

While no further information has been revealed about the electric pick-up. Going by the teased graphics, it can be seen that the electric pick-up is almost identical to the outgoing ICE Bolero Pik-up, which is one of the best sellers in the commercial-pick-up segment in India. It has a single cabin, 2-seater format with a flatbed at the rear. It has a ladder-on-frame chassis architecture. The ICE Bolero Pik-Up is capable of carrying a payload of up to 1,700 kg and the electric variant is expected to have the same capacity.

The future of pick-up | coming soon

With the launch of the electric Bolero Pik-Up, Mahindra will also foray into the full-size commercial electric four-wheeler market, something that has never been done before in India. Till now, electrification has not been a popular option in the commercial sector in India. Only small vehicles like three wheelers or Tata Ace Electric have taken the step towards electrification in commercial vehicles.

While the teaser states that the electric pick-up is coming soon, one can assume that it could be one of the five electric SUVs from Mahindra to be launched on August 15. The ‘Born Electric’ SUV has been developed by Mahindra Advanced Design. Europe (MADE) facility in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, led by Chief Designer, Pratap Bose.
