Bhiwandi: In another incident, electric scooter (EV) caught fire Bhiwandi area of ​​Thane district of Maharashtra on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Bhiwandi’s Brahman Aali area when the EV scooter was plugged for charging inside a building compound.
Fire officials said the owner of the vehicle had plugged the scooter in for charging, and informed the fire brigade when they saw smoke and fire emanating from the battery compartment.
Fireman Shishupal Rathod said, “The owner of the vehicle had doused the fire even before our team reached the spot.”
The fire brigade suspects a short circuit in the battery as the cause of the fire.
Due to rising petrol prices across the country, many people are buying electric vehicles to save cost.
Recently, after several such fire incidents in EV vehicles, the government had ordered a probe.
