Electric vehicle sector seeing significant employment growth: Report

Electric Vehicle NewsA study conducted by CIEL Human Resource Services on Saturday (July 9) said that the electric vehicle sector is witnessing significant employment growth and an average growth of 108 per cent in workforce in the last two years.

The EV sector is dominated by engineering departments, followed by operations and sales, quality assurance, business development, information technology, human resources and marketing.

The survey ‘Latest Employment Trends in EV Sector 2022’ was conducted by city-based CIEL HR Services Limited among 15,200 employees across 52 companies.

Bengaluru tops the list for electric vehicle talent at 62 per cent, followed by New Delhi at 12 per cent, Pune at 9 per cent, Coimbatore at 6 per cent and Chennai at 3 per cent, the study said.

Electric vehicle companies have hired 2,236 employees in the last six months and women have made their presence felt in almost all segments of the segment.

Some companies like Kinetic Green, Mahindra Electric, Convergence Energy Services, Oben Electric, Ampere Vehicles have women in top management positions.

Ola’s e-scooter factory in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu is run entirely by women.

Aditya Narayan Mishra, CEO, CIEL HR Services said, “India is investing heavily in the electric mobility shift. If India maintains this green momentum, the Indian EV segment will have an opportunity of USD 206 billion by 2030.”

“With this rapid development, there is high scope for engineering domain in the industry. The insights from the study will help companies to make strategic decisions related to the talent ecosystem,” he said.
