Twitter’s new boss Elon Musk on Sunday apologized for the microblogging site being “super slow” in several countries. His apology came minutes after he said, “Twitter is feeling increasingly alive.”

Musk said in a tweet, “BTW, I’d like to apologize for Twitter being super slow in many countries. The app is doing >1000 bad batch RPC just to render the home timeline.”

He also announced an upcoming feature as the mushrooming of fake accounts with verified blue ticks forced the company to suspend its $8 Twitter Blue program.

“Starting soon, Twitter will enable organizations to identify which other Twitter accounts are actually linked to them,” he said in another tweet.

Blue ticks were earlier reserved only for verified accounts of celebrities, politicians, journalists and public figures. But Twitter last week opened up a subscription program that allowed anyone to get it for $8 a month.

This caused a major backlash for the company, with many users impersonating major brands on the site. The program was put on hold last Friday but Musk said it would probably return “by the end of next week”.

Twitter also introduced an “official” label for select accounts, but it suddenly disappeared hours later.
