Elon Musk Says Media Elite Is Blocking Twitter From “Elevated Citizen Journalism”

Elon Musk said in his tweet that Twitter pursues the goal of elevating citizen journalism.

San Francisco:

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has criticized the “media elite” and said growing competition from citizen journalism will disrupt the mainstream media’s “oligarch on information”.

Musk shared a few tweets on Twitter on Friday, reflecting his views on the current state of journalism.

In the first one he talked about Twitter’s goal of elevating citizen journalism and wrote, “As Twitter pursues the goal of elevating citizen journalism, the media elite will do everything possible to prevent this from happening. “

Furthermore, in a later tweet, he stated that although “mainstream media will still flourish, increased competition from citizens will make them more accurate, as their oligarchy over information is disrupted.”

Basically, it seems the tech entrepreneur wanted to point out that the need for mainstream media to check the accuracy of information has increased as citizen journalism has increased in recent years due to social media platforms.

Meanwhile, since the completion of the Twitter deal, the world’s richest man has made a flurry of decisions affecting the functioning of Twitter, which has millions of active users daily.

The biggest change Twitter is seeing is the inclusion of a new USD 7.99 per month Blue subscription. However, many people did not like Musk’s decision to implement blue tick fees. Even some advertisers pulled their foot back from the site.

Additionally, celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg and Gigi Hadid left Twitter in the days following its acquisition.
