‘Encanto’ movie review: No sign of the end of Disney’s magic

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and composed by Germaine Franco, the music is a wonderful takeaway from this heartwarming exercise.

encanto, Disney’s 60th feature film, proves that Disney’s magic is in no sign of ending. encanto Tells the story of Madrigals living in the mountains of Colombia. Before long, Abuela Alma (Maria Cecilia Botero), her husband, Pedro, and their three infant children – Bruno (John Leguizamo), Juliet (Angie Cepeda) and Pepa (Carolina Gaten) – run away victorious. Pedro lays down his life for his family and a grieving Alma finds a magic candle.

Candle helps to create enchanted house. A community has been built around the madrigals in a magical land called Encanto. Each member of the Madrigal family, when they grow up, is given a gift – Juliet can recover from her cooking while Pepa controls the weather. Bruno, the prophet of the future, has left the family after a terrible prophecy.

Juliet has three daughters, the idealized Isabella (Diane Guerrero) who can control plants—especially the flowers, the super-strong Luisa (Jessica Darrow), who takes six donkeys to her barn or church, and Mirabelle (Stephanie Beatriz). don’t even think about taking it away. The one who is sensitive, affectionate and best wishes for her family even if she is not gifted.

Mirabelle is yet another mop-top new-age Disney princess, as are her sisters—Luisa and Isabella with bulging fish—who is tired of flowers and finds herself by creating carnivorous plants and cacti. Simple yet dynamic life lessons packed into a unique Disney package of captivating colors, wondrous execution, soaring music and on-point lyrics. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and composed by Germaine Franco, the music is a wonderful takeaway from this heartwarming exercise. And then that cute little one, far from the tree, which looks at parenting which is the cherry on top of the jolly confection.
